Heath Blackmon received his PhD in the Demuth lab at the University of Texas at Arlington in 2015 while studying the evolution of sex chromosomes and karyotypes in Coleoptera and invertebrates. He then transitioned to a postdoc for two years at the University of Minnesota. While there he collaborated with Emma Goldberg and Yaniv Brandvain on projects spanning population genetics and macroevolution. Heath opened his own lab at Texas A&M University in the fall of 2017.
