Monoisotopic mass

The monoisotopic mass of a molecule is the sum of the masses of the atoms in the molecule, taking the most common isotope for each atom contributing to the molecule.

The monoisotopic masses for amino acids are consolidated into the monoisotopic mass table, which is used in calculating the mass of a peptide in mass spectrometry.
