GenBank

GenBank is the world's largest genetic database, hosted by NCBI and containing an annotated collection of all publicly available nucleotide strings and their protein translations. GenBank is constantly updated by direct submissions from individual laboratories, as well as bulk submissions from large-scale sequencing centers.

GenBank uses its file format for storing genome data. A sample GenBank record header is shown below. For a full GenBank entry, one can be found here.
